Take My Hand

I have lived long enough to see dreams turn to dust. We sometimes wonder why as we literally cry our heart out. But then we know dreams are built on this life and nothing in this life is secure. We plan dreams of retirement, what we will do when the children are on their own, a home without conflict and the list goes on and on. Then a death we did not expect occurs, sickness we could not foresee, troubles in the family we had no control over and again the list continues. Then we see our dreams turn to dust.

Many times we make dreams and fail to get ahold of the truth. This life is not secure and only lasts a short while. God says in Isaiah 55:8: “My ways are not your ways; My thoughts are not your thoughts.” Life is so uncertain that one hour from now, our world could be laying at our feet, our dreams turned to dust. In times like that, God says: “Give me your broken dreams.” The Holy Spirit knows how to take a broken dream and bring good out of it, Romans 8:28.

Sometimes when our dreams fall apart, be begin to look to days when we had it better. Israel did that (Exodus 16:3).  Do not live in the memories of the past. They are good reminders, but to live in them will destroy all God has for us in the future. Paul said: "Forgetting those things which are behind reaching for things before us."  In other words close the doors of the past and let God open doors into the future. We can never know what tomorrow holds, but trust and faith in our God tells us He has tomorrow under control. We can say "Father, stand by me as I do not know what tomorrow holds, but I know you do."

We are never left alone. Our Heavenly Father has an eagle eye upon His own. He knows all that is happening, thereby molding a spirit and a soul to spend eternity with Him. The flesh will take many hits from the world, but heavenly angels guard the soul and spirit. They have been dispatched by the Holy Spirit to watch over God's own: Psalms 34:7. Angels are never to be worshipped; Jesus is the One we worship. For the Lord reminds us: "I chose you, you did not choose me." John 15:16.

Just as a child holds fast to the hand of their earthly father as you walk unknown places so must we put our spirit hand in the Holy Spirit's hand.  Let Him lead us to the unknowns that are only known by Him. Just as He led Abraham one step at a time. By trust and faith, holding fast to the spiritual hand of the Holy Spirit, will help us step over our broken dreams. The Holy Spirit will lead us into joy unspeakable, love that the human mind cannot understand and a peace that is only known by those who have a firm grip on the unchanging hand of God.

So if you have had dreams turn to dust, don't despair, God could be building dream castles you never knew could happen. Just stay faithful to Him and walk close by His side, He will never leave you. He has promised to take care of you - Matthew 6:25-34.  He knows the very hairs on your head, see Matthew 10:3 - do you believe that?
